Wage Cincy Peace, a project of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati, is an initiative to spark a conversation around the deterrents to peace in our community. We believe that this topic is under-discussed in our community (which is fraught with tensions that work against peace) and is something that will engage professionals who want to learn more and be a part of peace-related efforts at a local level.
The Wage Cincy Peace movement will kick off on September 9, 2016 with a Summit held in the heart of the city, will sponsor other service projects and events through the course of the year, and will culminate in a major peace event in summer 2017.
The Wage Cincy Peace Summit, taking place on September 9-10, 2016, will include a dinner, social event and speaker on Friday night aboard the Celebrations Riverboat, followed by a service project and lunch on Saturday the 10th at Taft High School in OTR, where we will be redesigning and building a courtyard for the school, and packing clothing for poor families.
Our headline speaker for this event (speaking on Friday and Saturday) is Paul K. Chappell. Paul graduated from West Point in 2002, was deployed to Iraq, and left active duty in November 2009 as a Captain. He is the author of the Road to Peace series, a seven-book series about waging peace, ending war, the art of living, and what it means to be human.
